Open Warden

Quiet protection for community servers.

The newest module — currently in testing. The repo is public and the code works, but things may shift before it stabilizes. Watch the repo for updates and check the README for current state.

In testing

A note about this one.

OpenWarden is the most recent open-source release from Billybots, and it's still in active development. The code is public, the bot runs, and the core flows are stable enough to test in real servers — but the API, command names, and feature surface may still change. If you're going to deploy it, expect to follow the repo and update occasionally.

For a more battle-tested moderation tool, look at the rest of the Open* modules (OpenDM, OpenConfess, OpenMusic) or Dungeon Keeper, which is in private beta but built on the stable parts of these projects.

Why another moderation bot

Quiet, not loud.

Most moderation bots are built around enforcement: bans, mutes, automod hits. OpenWarden is built around the quieter half — noticing patterns, surfacing concerns, and giving moderators the information they need to act thoughtfully instead of reacting fast.

Pattern over volume
Designed to surface trends across messages, not flag every single keyword. Less noise, more signal.
Mod-controlled
OpenWarden never acts on its own. It surfaces. Mods decide what to do.
Configurable
Made for servers with their own norms. The defaults are conservative; adjust to fit.
FAQ

Quick questions.

Why call it 'in testing' instead of 'beta'?
Beta usually implies feature complete with bugs to find. OpenWarden is feature-evolving — both the bug surface AND the feature set are still in motion. 'In testing' is a more honest label.
Should I run it in production?
Cautiously. The core flows work and we run it in our own servers. But expect to update along with the repo, and don't be surprised if a slash command name changes between versions.
How does this differ from Dungeon Keeper?
Dungeon Keeper bundles the polished, stable Open* modules (OpenDM, OpenConfess, OpenMusic) along with XP, activity graphs, AI moderation, and a dashboard. OpenWarden is the place where new moderation ideas get tried before they make it into Dungeon Keeper.
Will OpenWarden be bundled in Dungeon Keeper?
Yes — it's a Dungeon Keeper module like the others. Right now it's the experimental one.
Where do I report issues?
Open an issue on the GitHub repo, or join the Billybots support Discord.
Can I run it myself?
Yes — same stack as the other Open bots. Python, discord.py, SQLite. Read the README first, since some of what's documented may be in flux.

OpenWarden is in testing. The code is public, but the surface is moving. Clone, read, run carefully.
